Welcome to the Neighborhood

After living in Seattle for more than 25 years, I sold my house and returned to my home town Everett in March 2004. The distance between my former neighborhood and the new one was only 15 miles; but the well-trodden paths of my daily routine utterly changed. My grocery store was no longer Central Market in Shoreline; it was now the Claremont QFC. My default restaurant for a weeknight dinner out is now Casa Tequila on Evergreen Way instead of Bick’s Broadview Grill. As I was creating the Seattle neighborhood profiles, I felt the same excitement about each one as I did in 1979 when I moved there.
I returned home, the same time that Everett was being energized by fresh transplants from all over the Pacific Northwest and nation searching for quality affordable housing and less daily grind to and from work. More recently downtown Everett is being transformed into a hip and happening scene as artists fill the vacant storefronts with their colorful art creating a vibrant street scene.
On the third Saturday of each month the streets and shops are filled with residents partaking in the monthly Art Walk. After the walk, you may find yourself at Balefire for wine tasting or dinner and live music at the Prohibition Grill. You never know what new discovery is around the corner waiting for you. Puget Sound has always been known for its neighborhoods, each with its own personality and flavor, each a place to call home, each one making me wish I could live there too.
See you around the neighborhoods!
