Everett

Everett lies between Port Gardner Bay and the Snohomish River Valley. The Olympic Mountains loom across the bay; north is Mount Baker and the Cascade Mountains dominate the eastern view. The city was founded in 1892 as a transcontinental railroad terminus. One of the founders, Charles Colby, named the town after his son. It was a mill town with a well known scent until 1992 when Weyerhaeuser closed its doors. You will find former mill and railroad worker homes throughout the city.

Everett is the county seat of Snohomish County and the largest city in the county. It is a medium sized city with a small town feeling that was once owned by timber barons, mansions grace Rucker Hill and northwest Everett.

Home of the main plant for Boeing, planes are produced in the largest building in the world and tours are available. The Port of Everett Marina is the second largest marina on the west coast. It has more than 2,000 slips of thousands of feet of moorage.

Watch the activity on Port Gardner Bay from the waterfront brewpub, restaurants or hotels. The Farmers Market operates on Sundays June through September. The Everett Naval Station is the Navy’s most modern facility. Jetty Island lies off the northern end of Everett ‘s waterfront. Accessible by private boat, this man-made island is two miles long and is home to 45 bird species and a herd of California sea lions.

Everett offers people interested in outdoors pursuits many options such as the Everett Mountaineers who host nature walks and hikes throughout the area and skiing at Stevens Pass in the winter is less than 1 hour away.

Everett is a quiet and peaceful city where you will find people walking their dogs, watering their big green lawns (huge bonus for gardeners water is not metered in Everett) or kids riding their bikes home at all hours of the night because the streets are quiet and safe.
